Today! We Run!

Today! We Run! This was my niece's motto for me today.  I had the pleasure of getting to go for a run with her this morning. When I tried to point out that I usually walk certain parts (uphill), what was her response?  Today! We Run! With her arm held up high in the air.  She is a great motivator and I greatly appreciated her slowing down her pace to allow me to run in the same space as her and not just watch her back as she ran off.  She is an avid runner; ran in high school, runs in college and this little 5.5 mile jaunt this morning was just for fun for her.  But it was good training for me and helped me to feel like I can do anything....even running up some hills.  Thanks McKenzie!  Merry Christmas!

Peaceful Easy Feeling...

There is something to be said for running in the early morning, in the dark, at first light. Crazy!?!  No!  This was the first run that felt good in a couple of weeks.  It could be that it is so early that my body didn't realize what I was asking of it until I was just about done.  It could be that there is no one to see the pain on my face.  :-)  It could also be that Blue gets to run off-leash for most of the way which makes it so much easier for me.  It could also be that the cold (California cold, not Alaska cold) just numbs you enough that you don't realize that you might be a bit sore.  But I think that most of all it's that it is such a peaceful time of day.  Not many people are out and about yet, hardly any cars on the road.  And those that are up have their Christmas lights on so it's a great time to enjoy the beauty of Christmas time without all the hustle and bustle.  I hope this peaceful feeling carries me through the day.
